TJMS Team won 1st Place in the Engineering Challenge

Thomas Johnson Middle School (TJMS) is one of the Project Lead The Way middle schools in Prince George’s County Public School System.  TJMS started the implementation of Gateway as a STEM program in August of 2012.  Gateway is a middle school curricular program of Project Lead The Way that provides engineering curriculum for middle school students.

Congratulations to Justice Flora for placing 1st Place in

the MathCounts Regional competition in Norfolk, Virginia on November 4, 2016.  Justice is an 8th grade scholar enrolled in the Gateway program.

Mrs. Rayela, the STEM Coordinator of Thomas Johnson Middle School is one of the 100 winners of the 2016  VOYA Unsung Heroes Award for her innovative teaching idea, “TJMS STEM Innovation Lab,”

SCHOOL NEWS

Thomas Johnson Middle School STEM Coordinator and PLTW Gateway teacher Daisy Rayela, was recently honored by the Technology & Engineering Educators Association  of Maryland with their prestigious Engineering and Technology Teacher Excellence Award. The award was given at the TEEAM Awards Dinner held at Engineers Club in Baltimore City on February 22, 2017.
