Gateway To Technology Program

Gateway to Technology is one of the programs of Project Lead the Way (PLTW).  PLTW’ Gateway to Technology (GTT) program is designed to ignite the interest of middle school students to use their curiosity and imagination to create innovative solution to real life problems.  The Gateway to Technology units engage the students to various activities, project, and problem-based (APPB) learning that are centers on hands-on-projects and activities that have real-world applications and is taught in conjunction with a rigorous curriculum.

The Gateway to Technology curriculum strives to help students understand how the skills they are learning in the classroom may be applied in everyday life. The curriculum teaches the students to understand the relevance of STEM in daily life while acquiring the skills of collaboration, communication, innovation and problem solving.

The PLTW Gateway to Technology (GTT) is a middle school program offered in six independent, nine-week units.  Each unit includes a two-day activity related to engineering careers: Design and Modeling, and Automation and Robotics are required units for all students. GTT is intended for grades six through eight, and is designed to ignite the interest of students in STEM subjects.  The experiences of students in GTT classes will create a strong foundation for further STEM learning in high school and beyond.
